My boyfriend's birthday is in a month and today i found out that what i had planned to give him was not really of that much interest to him. So now i am again stuck with only two bottles of his fav booze. I want to give him something more but i don't really know what it should be.

Pretty much when we started seeing eachother i began writing this journal about things we do together and how i feel about him etc. I planned to give that to him for his birthday but i now want to wait until Christmas as i think the atmosphere will be better for that then. His birthday is about partying with his friends but Christmas will probably consist of me, him and his closest family. Much more the right atmosphere for giving the quite personal journal to him then.

So.... what else should i do?
His main interests are: american football (but he only very rarely have time too see matches and... the local teams aren't that good anyway. He loves the Superbowl), the viking age, history, folk stories about ghosts and other mysterious creatures, fishing, keeping fish, computer games (about pirates or zombies mainly. He likes to shoot up things*lol*). He also likes to solve jigsaw puzzles with me and to solve crosswords.

He just bought a tablet so perhaps i could find him something nice for that? I just don't know what it should be.

I thought about writing him a poem... but i hate poems and i think he does, too.

Then i thought about printing out a photo of me looking all in love and making some kind of diploma out of it.
I thought about making him a box filled with little "gift certificates" of things i could do for him (but all the things i can think of has flaws....) or i could fill the box with notes on which i'd written down stuff i love about him (but that also wouldn't be quite the right thing to give "atmosphere-wise" at his birthday... unless i gave it to him before the guests came and he then just hid it away and only talked about it).

I just feel that emotional/intimate presents are not good to give at a birthday party where everybody are getting drunk and partying.

I don't have a lot of money and i want to make him something that lets him know that i created this item completely with him in my mind. Since the already purchased part of the present is something party-like that i bought and it also ain't really that special i want the other half to be unique. Something he can look at and/or use and know that this great item is created with the love i feel for him.... something like that.

I really could use some help here.... what should i give my boyfriend for his birthday!?!???
I have a slightly odd request. I admit I may be over-thinking this.

My boyfriend has taken to shaving his head bald. Neither of us knows much about proper care for a bald head, and we're running into difficulty finding information. But I do know this: his scalp is rather dry and flaky at the moment, because it's wintertime. I know that in the summertime he's going to be battling an oily scalp, and is going to need some sunscreen, too. So I'm wondering if anyone is aware of a good kit or something that I could buy him that addresses these needs or, failing that, a reliable product line that I could purchase from to put together a kit myself. I'd prefer not to spend more than $50 on this.

Thanks :)

Christmas 2012

Just a reminder post that this comm exists, and Christmas is coming up! :D So, feel free to ask fo gift help.

Sentimental Christmas gift for Grandma?

Hi everyone!

I'm looking for a sentimental gift for my Grandma. We haven't always gotten along, but ever since I moved back home, we've formed quite a bond. I want to show her how much she means to me.

I've seen a lot of personalized plaques/shirts/blankets and all, but I was wondering if anyone had a different idea in mind.

Basically, if you wanted your gift to somehow say "You mean a lot to me and I'm really glad you're my grandmother", what would you look for?

Sword Chopsticks

I bought these for my brother, someone who is extremely hard to buy for. They're $10, come in random colour (you can't choose. Annoying, but there's not a horrible colour that you might get), and look like samurai swords. Free worldwide shipping.

Started?

Who has started their Christmas shopping? Care to show us what you've got?

Difficult Brother

My brother is incredibly difficult to buy for. However we don't give cash as a present in my family.

He's turning 23. I've got him some ties off of eBay, and a Mario hat, that he'll laugh at then never wear. :p
He's getting into jobs at banks, he has a car but doesn't really care about it, I don't know if I can buy clothes for him without him being there. He likes computer games, but downloads or borrows most things. He works at a movie place so has 50 billion dvds and blurays. He's living at home so doesn't need 'house' stuff. He 'likes' to cook but then almost never does. :p He'll show off making hot chocolates with a milk steamer he bought, for example. You only very rarely see him make dinner. He doesn't read. He likes gaming, but doesn't like 'stuff' to do with gaming like figurines of characters.
He hangs out with friends a lot. Drinks sometimes. Likes Disney things sometimes. Recently took up tennis but his girlfriend gave him a racquet and he's only doing it casually.
He's so. so. difficult.
Help meee.

My brother's ''big'' 16?

So it's my brother's 16th birthday VERY soon and I was thinking of what to get him.
He was never appreciative of anything I got him, even if it was something he liked and used everyday, so I almost wanted to skip this birthday of his, but since it's his 16th, I thought i would get him something small at least.
Where I'm from, the 16th birthday isn't that big of a deal and we cant get car licenses yet, but i felt that it's still pretty meaningful

So anyway, I want to get him something that doesn't cost much, simple and easy and means at least a little.

Any ideas?

Music is Worth 1,000 Pictures...

So that's like, what, 100,000,000 words? I don't know, I didn't really think that one through. Just like I didn't think this gift through! Haha, the similarities are really quite stunning. Lots of pictures and videos in this, and also it's my first time so I might be breaking all of the unwritten rules, so I put a cut in. I hope that's alright.

or maybe I'm just too verbose...Collapse )

Hi! what a great timing: this group is in the spotlight just as i am in need of a birthday present for a pen pal! :D

so... here's the thing: my pen pal's birthday is on june 3rd and i want to give her something that shows how grateful i am for our friendship (as well as i'd feel so bad if i gave her nothing now that i know that she'll give me something she found in the beatles store in London (am a huge beatles-fan... so it's a big thing for me!)). Btw. i'm from Denmark and she's from Germany.

What i've figured this far about what i want to give her:
- i want to MAKE something for her (i'm not a big fan of just buying something pretty and wrapping it up in colorful paper)
- it must not be food, candy, beer, soda (which bascially means that i can't give her anything from my city as we are famous for marzipan, chocolate and beer.... and Hans Christian Andersen but he sucks so i forget him on purpose).
- i don't want to just decorate a box/notebook with nice pictures and stuff as i gave her that for Christmas.

Besides that i think i'm.... lost. So... does anybody have any cool and creative ideas for what i could make for my pen pal or at least give me inspiration for something?
