My brother's ''big'' 16?

So it's my brother's 16th birthday VERY soon and I was thinking of what to get him.
He was never appreciative of anything I got him, even if it was something he liked and used everyday, so I almost wanted to skip this birthday of his, but since it's his 16th, I thought i would get him something small at least.
Where I'm from, the 16th birthday isn't that big of a deal and we cant get car licenses yet, but i felt that it's still pretty meaningful

So anyway, I want to get him something that doesn't cost much, simple and easy and means at least a little.

Any ideas?

when my brother was 16 i gave him a gift certificate for this store where you can buy deodorants, anti-pimple-things, lotions of all kinds and nature medication. it was just a small gift certificate but it was so well-received and he used it for whatever he liked. and when he had used the gift certificate he was even eager to show me what he had bought for it! i was very surprised about this as i don't find gift certificates very personal. he loved it anyway so i'm happy.

So even though gift certificates aren't that cool (in my opinion) perhaps he'll like one after all? You can also, if you are close, make him a gift certificate for a movie night with you. he'll pick the movie and you will get the snacks and you'll have a brother/sister-evening of quality time. :)

I was going to suggest a gift certificate, too. I know they can seem a little impersonal, but if it's for somewhere he's likely to shop anyway, he can get something he wants with it. I gave my nieces Cinema tokens for Christmas and they were very happy (although that could have been the Twilight pictures on them!).

I liked the idea of one for grooming products. When my brother was 16, he slapped on the aftershave like it was going out of fashion.

Gift certificate to the movies? He seemed happy with it and it's something my brother actually used when he went out with his friends, so I considered the gift pretty successful.
